hi all in need of some help and Google led me here so here goes
i recently added a sound card to my pc its just a c-media 8738 series one (6ch) anyway now when a sound plays, doesnt matter where it originates WMP WMPC even the windows sound level ding does it, a buzz will come through the speakers too, the buzz also continues for a bit after the noise has played neither the sound card nor my speakers were doin this b4 i paired the two so im pretty sure its not them help? |

sounds like a poor quality sound card. Almost all of those C-Media cards are.
If you have integrated sound it will work much better.

Have you tested the speakers on another computer or another set of speakers on the card in question? Perhaps load some new drivers if the problem persists?

ya speakers work on another pc as does the card, i also couldnt find any older driver versions to try
ah well that sux my intergrated sound is dodgy and causes my pc to crash alot so wen i could get this card for nothing i thort sweet ah well just have to buy a decent one |

Sounds as if it still could be software related. Even if you upgrade with the same drives, just confirm all the settings are updated/removed. If it still won't work, I'm sure you could find a pretty decent card for cheap. Perhaps even something older would make a fair replacement, such as a Sound Blaster Live. Those can be found for almost nothing anymore.
