Ok here's the thing guys, ultimately, the weight of whatever notebook I end up getting is going to play a critical role into how much I like the computer, as I will be toting it across campus almost everyday.
As I stated, the sole purpose of this computer will be to surf the net at school, type papers, and definitly take notes with. I don't plan on playing any games on it since I have a solid desktop at home for that purpose. The only other thing that I will obviously wanna do is listen to music (mp3s) and occasionally watch a dvd or so with an external optical drive hooked up.

Now, the MSI x340 which is priced at $699 on Amazon:

Now with all of those specs mentioned above, would I be able to smoothly go about my everyday school-related tasks? If not, would I be able to upgrade the chip to a core 2 Duo in the future? Is that doable?
Also, the only thing that bugs me is that in almost every review I have read about this computer, everyone complains about its poorly designed keyboard. Apparently the keys are too mushy. Now obviously this is a point of concern (a major one) since I'm going to be typing a lot. Therefore, I have decided that if all things considered above turn out to be well, and the keyboard is the only thing yet to be tested, I will want to see one of these machines in person, before thinking of getting one.
