I was just running the program Memtest86. I noticed the throughput (speed) of my PC2 6400 RAM in dual channel mode was running at 2,678 megabytes per second. That isn't even half of the 6,400 megabyte per second rating. Is my Athlon 4600+ Dual-Core processor bottlenecking the RAM at these speeds while it is running Memtest86?
I know the computer technology industry always brags about the throughput of different devices and you usually get about half of the speed that they advertise. (For example USB 2.0 advertises at 60 megabytes per second (480 megabits per second) transfer rates but you really only get 20 megabytes per second or lower.)
