Default external optical drive

I will soon be getting a laptop without an optical drive (and i'm fine with that) but I would like to keep one around just in case I do need one, wondering if anyone had a recommendation in one that is light weight and works well, I think a dvd reader would be sufficient, no need for burner as I will probably do all my burning from desktop.
Thanks in advance
