Default revamping my computer

Hey, I'm taking some parts out of my old computer so I can pretty much build another, But I have windows xp and all of my games on my hard drive so i dont want to buy a new one. If I was to change just the case motherboard ram and processor would my memory and xp still work fine??? Before this i had just been adding on to my hp( lame case) and have never changed out a thing like a cpu and motherboard. I have enough power and a graphic card for it.

thanks for any help

hmm, no. when you install an os, it gathers the drivers necessary to communicate with your hardware, mainly the mobo. ram and cpu swapping will work ok, but if you change the motherboard, it would be best to reinstall the operating system (windows xp). also, if it's a oem version of xp, it is tied to the motherboard, so you can't just move it to a new computer (motherboard), you'll have to get a new copy.
comprende?

if it's a branded pc, you mentioned hp, it is very likely a oem version that is also specific to your manufactured, means it will look for specific bios.

what are the specs of the other parts? maybe instead of using those components, you can get a good deal on barebone systems from the egg or the tiger.

bare bone system? I'm not too sure what that means, but I had replaced my power supply and graphic card on the hp. So this time I was going to replace most everything else like motherboard and cpu so I could increase my power and have room on my motherboard for future parts like more ram or to sli my graphic card. I was going to try and use the copy of xp from my hp, but i figured something would be implemented so I couldn't use It on something else. That's my story at the moment really! =P Anyway I'm really just trying to take the memory out to save money(and my games) but this oem thing is is new to me. I'm hoping I can still use the memory but I am going to have to buy another version of xp aren't I? (I don't like vista really)

and if that is correct, can I just slap the xp 64 bit in my cd drive once I put my computer together?

sorry for all of this in one huge wall of text I just try' d to fit it all in here =D
