I have a 3 year old Gateway which was running really slowly, so I purchased an external hard drive to try and remove a few of the files in hope of speeding up my computer.
I plugged it in as per directions and left for school as the files were transferred. When I came back the computer had shut down. I tried turning it on again a few times but no luck. It will start up to the start up menu screen and say Gateway, with the few options (Click F1, etc.) Then power down again. A fellow student said that it sounded like a scratch on the internal hard drive? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!! |

Unplug the external and try again.
