Default cannot load the device driver

My computer isnt seeing any cd I put in it. When I looked under device manager it said

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

When I clicked the check solutions button a window poped up saying it was checking but it dissapeared and nothing happened.
