Default Low profile expansion slots

What is the difference between a low profile expansion slot and a regular expansion slot? I am looking to get a mini tower and i was wondering if my video card and wireless adapter will have problems fitting into these.

There's no difference in the actual slot. The limiting factor here is the size of the case. Low profile cards are typically about half as high as regular ones and have specal I/O plates on the back.

I checked some standards (seeing as I can't find my ruler ) and low profile cards are essentially about 1.5" tall.

Here's a photo of some cards I had laying around. You can see the low-profile I/O plate is about half that of the regular one.

Yep you will either have to pick a different case or buy new low profile cards.

Video card, probably. Network adapter, it might be low profile compatible, though you'll need to buy a low profile bracket.
