Default Gaming headset

I am looking for a good gaming head set, i know i want a USB head set and i want virtual surround sound(i think i do unless it lowers sound quality). What brands should i look for or avoid? How much should i pay for a decent headset?

Any logitech headset with a microphone will be more than enough for games, they are very high quality.

I just recently impulse bought the Logitech G35 and oddly enough can't be happier with it, it's solid, sounds good, feels good and works well.

actually mine came with a sticker that said ALL OF YOUR EARS ARE BELONG TO US or something, and I'm a sticker whore so it's on my case somewhere.

but that's all I can think of as far as positives

I'd say SteelSeries 5H v2. Its by far the best gaming headset. It is built and optimized just for games and has 100% 5 Star raiting and never seen a bad review.
