Default Blown Power Supply?

My hard drive went out on me and I was able to get some of the files off of it before it wouldn't allow me to boot using it anymore.
My next step I tried was after it booted, (OS on a different hard drive) I would plug the Molex into the bad HDD (data cable was SATA) and the computer recognized some of the partitions and I was able to get a few more files. After trying that a few times, (I would get an error supposedly from not being able to write to the bad hd) I would have to restart. Then the last time I hadn't even plugged in the HDD and everything shut down and I've got no power or anything.
Could there be a simple fix like replacing a fuse inside the PSU, or am I looking at a new one? Thanks for the help!

Were you unplugging/plugging drives in with the computer running? If so not a good idea. Try unplugging the power supply, hit the power button a few times. Plug it back up and see if it will boot.

Fuses have been removed from most PSUs

Try removing the power cord
Hold the ON button in for 30secs
Securely put the power cord back in
Turn on

Thanks for the suggestions. I was hot plugging the one hard disk drive. I thought the worst that could happen would be the the bad hard drive that I'm trying to recover my files from.
I have tried unplugging the power supply, have not tried holding the power button on the case. I'll give these a try tonight, thanks again!

You cannot "Hot plug" your hard drive on any PC
Hot Plugging is usually only available on Raid configured Servers (with Hot plug option)
Don't do that again. You could fault the Hard Drives or Power Supply or Motherboard

I thought that was one of the pro's of SATA, but maybe they meant that you must have power to it, then you can hot plug the sata cable? Either way, it won't be done again.
Are you saying I could have damaged the motherboard?

Well I'm just stating that hot plugging internally can cause other hardware faults
It would also be a jolt on the power supply, but may not blow it (unless its old and low wattage or something

SATA is hot plug in AHIC mode, but not unplugging/plugging the molex/Sata power cable.
