Default Does AVG Have anit-spyware?

So i recently got a phone call this morning from my girlfriends father saying that his computer has spyware. Every time that he tries to open something the computer locks up. The anti-virus that he has is AVG, does this have anti-spyware? Also if you could give me some ideas of how to quickly get rid of this that would be awesome. This is the main computer at work so it needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

I'm surprised howmany times I hear a similar story like this?
Why would your "girlfriend's father" be trusting you with Malware removal if you don't even know what AVG Antivirus does?

Now I understand that this is the intention of going on a tech forum
But it may be best that your girlfriend or even her father, logs on here and asks for support directly.
The issue is that you may inadvertantly remove a Virus that is attached to a Windows Sytem file like Explorer.exe. Once quarantining this system file then the computer may not even boot to Windows again. And this would be your fault for not knowing, and then running the scans

FYI AVG does have a Spyware removal part, but its not very good (ie its an Antivirus software) To remove spyware you should be using free tools such as Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware, which are dedicated Malware removal tools.

Further to all this, I feel that AVG is not all that good. I advise users to uninstall it and then run the AVG Removal tool, and then install free Avira Antivirus. I feel it works much much better

What are you smoking? AVG does fine. It's the free version of AVG that stinks.
BUT, you will need MalwareBytes as well.

Everybody has their own opinion on what free virus program works. I use AVG and I trust it. I've never had a problem with it.
