Asus A8V recommedations ?

Looking to build a new computer for my son, and was looking to build it on this MB. Any one got comments good or bad, or can suggest a better one for around the same money?

Looking to build something like
Amd 64 3000
512 Mb ram
Nvidia 6600GT

Any help on this, and prices in hte UK welcomed. I have been out of the loop a couple of years, and how things have changed.

It's an ok board, an NF3 250 based board would be better but if you are in a tight budget the A8V fits
