Default Mic Issue

My brothers computer running W7rc doesn't recognize any mics - He disabled them a little while ago for some reason, now they're not showing up. Any suggestions? Mics are regular headphone ports (USB mic works)
Thanks.

When you say it doesn't recognize them, does it not show the ports at all in the sound properties? The detection feature of most sound cards is relatively new and usually pretty useless if you ask me.

If you can, you may consider looking for some new drivers and see if they work any better. Assuming you're running basic Windows 7/MS drivers, I know they can be pretty sorry at times. My laptop actually wouldn't even play sound through the speakers until I updated the sound drivers (headphones worked )

That's correct..

Yeah I was thinking about newer drives - I was just wondering if there was any other solution.

Nothing else that I can think of right off... I mean as long as you can confirm it worked before loading Windows 7, it's pretty clear it's a software issue. Microsoft has never really been known for their drivers either
