DDR3 Dual Channel Question

I've been looking at Ram and motherboards, but I don't see how it's possible to max out some of the motherboards.

Like on the....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128377 It can hold 16gb, but all the dual channel Memory/Ram that it support only have 2gb.

From what I know, dual channel only has 2gb or am i wrong?

So is it even possible to reach 16gb with dual channel Ram/Memory?

Dual channel can be any size as long as it's a matched pair of RAM.

Right now the only way to get 16gb in dual channel is to use this chip, its only one available at the moment.

You would need to buy 4 of them at a cost of 469.99 each. You really don't need ram stating dual channel for it to run in dual channel. As long as the memory is the same in all aspects and you have a motherboard that supports dual channel then it work.

I would've thought they would have alot more out now, but I guess it's new. How much ram do I really need in a computer?

For instance, say I got 8gb using 64bit. Would My computer use all of it, making it faster or would i only use some of it at a time?

I'm just asking because I don't know if I should go with 4gb with 32bit or go with 8gb using 64bit.

Well 32 bit Operating Systems will only recognize up to 3.5 gigs at the max. It is the 64 bit OS that recognizes and utilizes 4 Gigs (or more) at this juncture.

of course its possible but its expensive as not many companys would be producing 4gig sticks of ram as most common users mainly go for 2gig sticks there for its not cost effective for companys to produce these sticks on a mass scale!

who needs that amount of ram? there will be some people but they would in the minority
