My son had a good wireless connection in his apartment for a month. There is a cable modem and Motorola router in the living room and his roomates use laptops on the second floor. My son has a pc with a wireless usb adapter also on the second floor. Signal strength dropped to "very weak" without warning and he lost his connection. Both laptops continue to function as usual. I brought him a spare adapter from home that he had used before on his pc, but still got "very weak" signal. They have Comcast cable and a phone tech could not get it working. We are at a loss. Before we buy a second modem for him and hard wire his pc, can anyone tell me what happened. Nobody moved any hardware and my son didn't touch any settings. It's a mystery.

Malware?
Have a look at this > Guide Note you may need to use a USB flash drive to download the updates and copy them to his computer Oh and I've found that a faulty AVG or Norton Antivirus can cause these types of issues, if you have that installed uninstall it, and run the > Removal Tools |
