Default DDR3 12800 only running at 1066.

So I bought a P6T SE, i7 920, GTX275 and 6gigs of 12800 DDR3 a few days ago.

Anyway, CPU-Z is showing that the RAM is only running at 1066MHz. I went into BIOS, left everything on auto except changed the DRAM or whatever the setting is called from 'Auto' -> 'DDR3 1600MHz' figuring this won't be a problem because its rated to run at that.

After I booted, DWM failed hardcore within a few seconds.... CPU-Z was showing the right freq. on the RAM, but the timings had changed to 9-9-9 instead of the 8-8-8 they were on previously. They are rated to be 8-8-8 and 1600MHz.

So I hit restart to set it back to how it was for the time being and I got a BSOD as it was shutting down...

So what's going on here? How can I get this running stably at 8-8-8 1600MHz? CPU-Z also showed the NB (Northbridge? I thought this MB didn't have one) was running at a pretty rancid high frequency (3000MHz+ I think) when I had the DDR3 1600 setting on. It's currently sitting back at about 2100MHz with everything on auto.

As a side note, the system is running beautifully so far. I'm running Windows 7. Just want to figure out these tweaks to have it running that little bit better, as it should be.

Thanks for the help.
