1. I have files in my phone .3gp, I know they won't play in DVD (using cd-r or dvd-r) What's the best file format if I want it to be playable in DVD? I'm using a CD-R disk.
2. Is there a FREEWARE that can create photo slideshow save as .mov or .avi, where i can select a sound (mp3) |

Standard DVD players handle MPEG2 format. The majority of DVD players won't play *.mpg/*.avi/.mov files. Also only a select few will play mini DVDs (IE DVD files put on a CD-R).
I'm unsure of freeware programs right off, but videohelp.com has plenty of programs listed there to choose from. It also has fairly in depth explanations of VCDs and DVDs.

DVD is in MPEG2 format with the .VOB file extension. DVD authoring programs that convert videos to DVD will format the disc correctly in order to be played in a DVD player. I haven't had the need to make a DVD in quite some time so I really have no suggestions on what you should get though.
I used to use ConvertXtoDVD http://www.vso-software.fr/

I'm using cdr. Can I burn it in CDR? I'm using FFormater software (converter) Can I burn it as .VOB or MPEG2 in a cdr? I was thinking about the other format like mp3, my dvd can play mp3 and display .jpg but not videos.
I need to make a video presentation using photos and mp3 of my choice. ![]() thanks for the replies! Last edited by jamblebee; 10-05-2009 at 11:30 AM. |

As I said, it depends on your DVD player. I'm thinking my Toshiba will play DVD files off a CD-R but my Philips won't.
I honestly don't use Windows Movie Maker because it's way too weak for what I do...but won't it burn to a DVD?

The presentation video using photos and music (.mp3) is another thing. I will use it in a pc, no need to burn in a CD. If you know any freeware that I can install in my pc so I can create a video presentation in .mov or .avi format.
About the CD-R, I have a cd-writer not a dvd writer. What I need is to convert a .3gp to a format that can be played in a JVC dvd player. I downloaded FFormater, a freeware that can convert any format (.gif to .jpg mp3 to mp4 .mpg to .avi etc etc). The good thing about that freeware is that you can join 2, 3 or more .3gp files in a single file. If I convert .3gp to .VOB does it automatically play in a DVD player connected to a TV?
