Default Upgrading Power Supply in Dell

So...I am getting the 9600GSO from Voyagerfan99 and I am going to throw it in my daughter's Dell XPS 400. I know standard ATX power supplies fit...my Antec 650w fit like a glove. The Dell 350w just won't push it anymore. This thing will be running CPU and GPU Folding client the entire year I am in Afghanistan so I need something solid.

I am looking for something about 400w or a little more for a good price. I found these...any other suggestions or experience with any? I have it narrowed down to these choices.

CORSAIR 400W

OCZ StealthXStream 400W

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 370W (really liking the monster 12v rail)

SILVERSTONE ST400 400W

Thanks for looking

I can personally say that the corsair is a great PSU it runs my rig without any problems. It is silent and has good cooling and ventilation. Really any of them will be a good choice all are reliable brands and will last you a while. If I had to pick I would probably go with the corsair as it has 30A on the +12V rail or the PC Power and Cooling with 27A on the +12V rail.

Why does Silverstone always go unmentioned here? Silverstone make just as good PSU's as PC P&C and Corsair. I really like the 2 12V rails @ 18 amps each on the model posted. I say go with the Silverstone.

Although, any would be a quality PSU. The OCZ being the worst of the bunch.

Yea silverstone is a good PSU but 30A on 1 +12V rail is better then 18A on 2 separate +12V rails. At least thats what I was always told.

In a system that doesn't require much power in the first place the number of rails is really rather irrelevant. Any of the PSU's mentioned will power a 9600 GSO without any trouble. The main thing is durability and reliability, as it will be Folding for hours most days. I would have to rule out the OCZ.

pc power and cooling make some of the best psu's, i have used 2 corsair psu's..

and i know you mention that a low end pc doesnt need one single rail but why not when its the same price as the 2 rail psu?

What's the advantage of one rail over 2? Rails can borrow from each other.

Dont skimp on a power supply,if it fails, it usually takes out other components alongside it.
New? Dont forget to read the rules. Heatware
