Default Google & Hotmail not loading on home network

Hi guys,

This is my first post, so be gentle. About a week ago I downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 3 to my desktop. Everything was fine until the next day when my homepage (google) would not load. I then went to hotmail and the login page would load but I could not sign in. Every other page is loading quickly, with absolutely no issues. Since I could not login on my pc, I went to my wife's laptop and encountered the same issue. I then went to my wife's Nintendo Wii and had the same problems loading up google and hotmail.

Both the desktop and laptop run Windows XP home and both are Pentium 4 dual processor machines. Both of them run Kapersky. We have a cable modem with a Linksys router. I have run a full scan on both systems along with Adaware anniversary edition and Spybot Search and Destroy. I still have the same issue.

My question is: Where do I go from here?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Google is just so broad now, ie There's hundreds of different "Google" web pages

Is this the Google you mean: http://www.google.com
Try http://www.google.com/ncr

By the way, I feel that this was just your ISP Server problem, and I suspect its now ok again?

Pretty obvious it's not a software issue if the Wii's not working either... Have you tried bypassing the router and going directly through the cable modem? Try this if you have not to confirm it's not the router acting up. You may also try resetting both the router and modem (simply unplugging them and plugging them back will suffice)

www.google.com is my homepage. I have reset both the router and the cable modem and still have the same issue. I will try to connect directly to my modem tonight. What potential issues can there be when the "router" is acting up?

Thank you for the responses!!!

Many routers have their own firewall (in the router's settings page)
You can set your router's firewall to block anything, including Google

You may need to either go into the router's setting page (please check your router's manual for this, but it could be: http://192.168.0.1 or something like that)

Or reset your Router (there should be a tiny reset button that you hold in for 30secs)
But you still may (likely) need to get into the router's settings page to put your username and password back in
