Post installing a new HDD

I have an IDE desktop and I have been running low on space recently so I bought a 250G IDE HDD as a 2nd hard drive

I believe I have installed it right,
-I set it onto slave with the pins,
-the master is on the end of the IDE cable and the new slave in the middle
-and the power cable for the slave comes directly from the port where the masters power is plugged in

My computer doesn't display the new HDD but Everest recognizes it

any idea why it's not working?

You need to go to "Disk Management"

Start > Run > diskmgmt.msc
Right click on your non formatted drive
Format it to NTFS (assuming your C Drive is also NTFS, of which it should be)

Done

Yes it will work

By the way, next time you do this, make Master and Slave "CS" (Cable Select)
And ideally use seperate 80wire IDE Cables (if possible)
