Default sata drive

Hi there,
I been on this for hours, I hope someone can help.
I'll divide this up in 3 so you will understand better.

1-Problem with computer
2-what I already tried
3-specs of computer

1) Computer won't boot. It goes to start up and then gives a disk read error.

2)I took harddrive out of the computer and installed it on another computer and ran :check disk and an antivirus then installed back to the orginal computer and still got the same error.

I then booted with the xp cd home edition to run a repair and it runs setup where it copies all the files over but when it says loading windows it gives me a blue screen of death.

I then formatted hd and booted from xp cd again and same message blue screen of death. So booting from the cd is not working.

I then took hd out and installed it in another computer installed xp home edition and booted up it up on that computer and it works fine. I then took it out and installed it on the orginal computer and it gave me a disk read error.

I boot with utimate boot disk and tested ram and hardrive and they passed.

This is a Sata drive that we are talking about.

So what I did was took an ide drive formatted it on another computer, installed xp home and put it back in the orginal computer and booted it up and it worked.

So I figure it has to do with the Sata controller or bios settings.

I install the sata drive back boot up into bios and bios see's the sata drive so its not that.

I'm at the point where the computer can run ide drive but not sata and I need sata drive to run.

Should I update bios and see if that works.

3)
The computer that I'm working on is just a generic computer no brand name and the motherboard is intel desktop D845PEBT2
