Question Problem playing mp4 (hd) files

I have bunch of hd files, in particular h.264 mp4 files that don't want to play correctly. The picture is breaking up in vlc player, and using klm player the video is in slow motion while audio is fine. I would like to know if there is a way to fix this situation and if so could you provide detailed instructions please...
Converting these files would take a whole day since they vary between 2-5 GB.
I have a Vaio with dual 1.73 GHz processor, I'm not sure what graphics chip I have but I think it's Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset family. Other hd files such as Mkv play fine on my computer.
