Default Is it possible to use front panel audio & a sound card?

I have a Sound Blaster Live! sound card which works fine. I also have a motherboard with front panel connectors that also work. But, when I put in the sound card it disables the front panel audio. In other words, they both work just not at the same time. Ok now for the question:
Is there a way to get my front panel audio to work and keep my sound card?

I don't know if that particular card have HD audio out headers, but if it does you'll have to disconnect the front panel headers from your motherboard and hook it up to your sound card.

This is correct.

If your sound card has no inputs for your front panel audio plugs, then the only other option would be to get some speakers that you can plug headphones into.

ok so I need to connect my front panel audio directly to my sound card if it supports it. I'll check and see if there's anywhere on the card for that. But if it's not, do I have to go without the sound card altogether if I want my front panel audio working or is there a jumper or bios setting to enable both to work at the same time?

By the way, thanks diduknowthat

I was afraid of that.
Well, I guess I'll have to invest in a new front panel audio compatible sound card. Any suggestions?

How much do you want to spend? I know the X-fi Xtremegamer has HD audio headers.

I don't want to break the bank but I'm not afraid to spend good money for what I really want. As long as it's worth the cost. So lower is better but not if it won't get the job done. Is the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer a good one? I see you're using the X-Fi Xtrememusic. Does your front panel audio work with that card?
