New Start, new probs

I recently did a full reboot on my comp and a Virus fried my OS. I have everything up and running except sound, I have downloaded and installed the drivers. Everything says its enabled but i cant seem to get it to work. Any suggestions. I have a EVGA 680i motherboard, using the default sound card.

What OS are you running?
What component isn't working?
What does it say about the component under Device Manager? (Does it have a yellow question mark next to it?)

Windows XP home edition
i can't get any sound out of my headphones, everything is connected properly... the mic works.
Device Manager says the device is enabled. the only yellow question mark is next to network controller.
