Ive been wanting to get a new power supply for my computer, its reached the point where if I turn the power off from the main plug socket, the computer wont turn on unless I leave the plug on for at least 20mins first. Right now my computer isnt even working properly, when I do get it turned on it simply freezes on me after about 10seconds when the desktop has loaded and I have to restart.
I went to Amazon.co.uk and purchased the first power supply I could find and recieved it about 20mins before writing this post.. problem is its too big for my computer since my com is a slim line edition and I havnt a clue what power supply to buy because none of them say for slimline computers. This is the power supply I purchased http://www.amazon.co.uk/450W-Gold-Si...5434571&sr=8-1 Doesn anyone know where I can get an affordable power supply which will fit in my slimline computer, I have an account on Amazon already so if you could find one from there it would be preferable at www.amazon.co.uk This is the computer I have with its specs here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-LS23.../dp/B000BKHGSI Any help is appreciated, I cant really afford to pay for another mistake with the wrong power supply. Would be so much easier if they actually just said "can be used for slimline computers" but I suppose that would be too easy. Last edited by Massy2k; 10-13-2009 at 01:59 PM. |

You need to search for TFX 12v micro power supplies. I found a 300 watt one, not sure what wattage you are looking for.

Well my current one says 240 watts, if I were to use a 300 watt one my computer wouldnt explode on me would it? or shortout, something like that?
Edit*** I had a look around on Amazon for a micro power supply and came across this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Colors-300W-...5459435&sr=8-7 Not sure if its the same one you mentioned Johnb35, would this one work or at least fit into my computer? My current power supply is a lot longer than this one however, its not square. Last edited by Massy2k; 10-13-2009 at 08:48 PM. |

I didn't see one that matched yours on Amazon. If you can give me some computer stores in the UK, I can try to find you one that will work.

Too be honest I dont really know of any computer stores except for pcworld.co.uk but people who know anything about computers always tell me never to buy anything from big chain stores like pcworld cause its always overpriced.
www.pcworld.co.uk is the site if you think you can find something for me there, also thats where I purchased this pc originally. |

better than PC world in every way: Better prices, faster delivery time, employees know about computers, they don't just read off of a piece of paper over the phone, better prices. I checked overclockers too (the other big online computer shop in UK) but they don't seem to sell micro ATX poewr supplies The power supply you posted is crap, NEVER skimp on the power supply, it is the most important part of your computer, you want a decent one, one from a reputable brand: Silverstone, Corsair, PC Power & Cooling, Antec are some examples, this is because they will give the power they say. Some off brand, unknown company like Colours (the one you posted) will be made from cheap, Asian components that will overheat and blow way too easily. Any cheap power supply will do this. If a power supply blows, you won't just have to buy a new power supply, you will most probably have to buy other component(s) unless you are very lucky because it will send a power surge through your system as it goes

Great, thanks for the link Aastii... but I still need someone who could check to see which one would be suitable for my computer and will actually fit so I can place an order right away.
Would the 500W CIT micro-ATX PSU from the list in the link you gave work? Says they can deliver it by tommorow which would be awesome. |
