Exclamation CPU Cooler

Hello,

I have recently custom built a computer with:

1tb Samsung HardDrive
956mb nVidia Graphics Card
8GB Corsair Gold RAM (Buy one get one free )
Blu-Ray Drive
Normal Drive
650 Watt PSU
Intel Quad Core processor at 2.50GHz

Anyway the processor is getting far too hot, crashing the computer to protect it from getting damaged (This is after playing Arma II for about ten minutes lol..)

The stock cooler that comes with the processor is crap, and was basically wondering if anyone has any reccomendations on a decent cooler.

Price isn't much of a problem - although don't give me things that are stupidedly high (basically <50)

So ideas?

Cheers,

Dom

What's the model, and what socket?
I'm guessing it isn't Overclocked, right?

Also what case do you have?

The stock Intel coolers, while not high performance, should keep the CPU cool enough to not overheat itself.

I'd have to say there was an issue while installing the cooler.

Yeh forgot to mention that Two of the pins on the stock cooler are also damaged so keeping the cooler attached is difficult (so it is detaches not enough air is getting to the CPU)
So basically a new cooler is needed - as good as possible would be nice

Forgot to mention my case is a CM Storm Scout Case - very big and spacious

The 775 stock cooler is pretty good for stock settings, I don't trust the ones that ship with the i5/i7s though. Those missing pins are a problem, you can get a fairly good heatpipe cooler for about $30 now.

In terms of actually cooling the pc down, would it to the job for fairly intense gaming?

I was reading on a review that the cooler-master/hyper-212-plus has an uneven base so I´m not sure about recommending that one now.

That OCZ will easily cool that cpu down. How´s your case fan set up , good airflow?
