Default looking for a good free program to access and control any computer remotely.

I am looking for a good free program to access and control any computer remotely. I need to help a friend that is not in the same state as me.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Windows already has an implemented program into it like this, it's called "Remote Desktop Assistance". But only in Windows.
Are you running Windows, if so what version?

Team Viewer is very good, simple and easy. I use it all the time when I help clients from my office instead of going on site. I'll post the link below.

http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx

Just save and install. When prompted, use the personal setting. It will give you an ID and Password. Just have your friend download it as well and have him/her give you there ID and DEFAULT password and hit connect, its that simple.

Any questions or problems just reply back.

I also have had good success with logmein. You might have to look carefully for the free version as they sometimes seem to hide it on their website. Google for "logmein free" should get you there though.

It requires installation on the computer you are controlling, but remote access works through a browser. Great for controlling your pc at home or office when you are out on the road.

It is available for PC or Mac, but not Linux. The remote computer can be Linux based using Java or a developmental plugin - not tried it.

Regards,

Graham
