Default First Time

Hello, I'm very newb to this whole putting your comp together thing and did my first build and first OC.. My question is when running prime 95 my CPU temps hovered about 91-93c, is this bad or within limits when stress testing?

I clocked it to 3.90

I7 920
P62 del
6 GB Ram
V10 cooler

Thanks

Thats hot, what thermal compound are you using? With a V10 you shouldn't be getting that hot at all.

I placed a few puddles then evenly spread on chip with a card.. very thin film.. My room temp is about 85 degrees F.. Im in AZ and 85 degrees is nice compared to 100+ so have AC off and windows open.. Wonder how much that is effecting it? i did remove a side panel and it drop a few degrees not much...

I would back your overclock down to 3.6 or so. Whats your temps at that setting?

What voltage is your CPU at? Is your fan on your CPU cooler at max? What are your case temps like?

Few puddles? How big? I use about 2 of the size of an uncooked grain of rice, and spread it with a razor blade ultra thin. In fact, only using that much forces you to spread it that thin to get the whole chip covered.

To put things into perspective for you, 91c is 195 degrees fahrenheit.

Yes, I have back it down to stok to run to see how it handles.. But it is warm in here and wont run it until tonight.

I had the voltage set at 1.20

My puddles were larger than yours , however did scoop up all the excess. Mine was also a very thin film.. i dont think its the paste..

I understand how hot it is..

Im not sure if my CPU fan is adjustable or I would have to look at see what the normal operating RPM are to determine the amount its working.

Do you have decent case ventilation?

Need to know your case temps then.
