g'day,
i am wondering if an extra gig is need to run a smooth computer? or is it my cpu? i already have 1gig running @ 200MHz. i just brought 1gig 333MHz. is it worth it? cheers

That's old hardware, plain and simple.
Go ahead and add your new RAM, but I wouldn't expect a huge performance increase.
