I have these small pin connectors that will fit into the terminal on the back of the receiver, but not on the speakers themselves. For the speakers I need a different kind that is gold plated. Is it alright to mix the two types--regular on the receiver and gold on the speakers?

yep, it would be best to have gold on both but just one is fine.
