Default computer wont boot ?hard drive?

i just got a old pc to take apart and learn how they go together, today i took the hard drive out of it and tried it on a harddrive i bought (one mentioned in some of my posts). for some reason i was getting no display from the motherboard, so i decided to put the HDD back into the other computer and ask my ICT teacher tommoro if he knows why.
problem is when i start the pc up now i get:

searching for boot record from floppy..not found
searching for boot record from SCSI..not found

Drive not ready
insert BOOTA diskette in A:

anyone know why? i have connected everything back up the way it was (i think).
also does anyone know any reasons why i wasnt getting any display from the other MB? its got a built in graphics card, and i tried one i had in the post?

Go into your BIOS. Make sure it detects the hard drive, and set your boot sequence so that the hard drive is at the top. That ought to fix things a bit. Also, chances are the old hard drive is broken..
