Default Everest causing BSOD?

I just set up my new computer, and every time I try to run everest (everest home 220) I receive the BSOD. it's not a problem with the install, since I copied the install file from my old computer, and it ran everest fine. Any idea what is causing this? Know any other free programs which do the same job as everest i could try?
