Default network timeouts

i have comcast with a netgear attactched and everyday multiple times a day the internet just stops working and i dont know why. any ideas?

The times it stops working, are they the same times everyday? If so, then its probably scheduled maintenance, if not then..Feel your modem, see if its over heating.

no its not at the same time every day and it seems as it is not my modem but my router because when it happens i will restart my router and then it works again

Its hard to say, I experienced the same problems a few months ago and I used the same solution you are to temporarily fix it, but it ended up being a dying modem.

Instead of resetting your router when your internet goes down, try unplugging your modem for a bit. Then plug it back in and see if it works.

ok i will try but i mean this happened last time we had comcast and then we switched to verizon and we got terrible speed so we just switched back and this started right off the bat. but if that does work the unplugging of the modem what do you suggest i do

i tried turning off my modem and leaving on my router and then turning the modem back on and it didn't work until i restarted my router

Could try updating the firmware on the router.

comcast does the same thing to me to i just call it shitty service lol

lol i already updated the firmware and no i do not run torrents but i do run my xbox a lot along with about 3 other computers
