so even though i had it on my hard drive that i have now but i don't have the discs i won't be able to use the new hard drive

Hmm, Well what Ive heard from a friend is you can call apple support and tell them you lost the disks and they will send you a new copy. Or you could maybe go into the apple store with the hard drive and they may install it for you.

i just got off the phone with apple and they said that i am able to do a complete install with the snow leopard disc

I mean you can try, But I just had to put a new hard drive in my friends Mac and the snow leopard disk did not let me install it because there was no prior install.

Idk, maybe because I got one of the earlier ones? But I was able to do a clean install with the upgrade disk on a new HDD.

did you have to uninstall it from the first hard drive or were you able to just put the discs in and go

oh well i am just going off of what he told me today and i am not sure if it will work or not but i guess we will find out when the new HD gets here in a few days
