Default Should I change?

Currently I use Avast! and Spybot Search&Destroy. It works well until I get a virus. Which has been about twice since i started using it. The first virus required me to get a reformat. What do you think? Should I change? A lot of people like the umbrella one, but when I use it it always wanted to scan while i was doing something, making my pc freeze. I also have used norton. Which was annoying.

Also one more thing, I have like a virus on my browser that whenever I search something, it redirects me to odd websites that aren't listed or wasn't what I clicked on.

Avira or Microsoft Security Essentials are the best in my opinion.
