hey guys I'm looking at running windows 7, copies are already on the way...this is my computer when it was "stock" click me my question is I'm looking at getting 4 gigs of ram, can the computer support 4 gigs with windows 7? the specs say i can only go up to 2 gigs but I'm not sure if that's the xp max or if its saying that's the most the motherboard will be able to support....hopefully that all makes sense. thanks

Thats a socket 754 board, which is very old. 2gb of memory max for that computer. It does look like its got an open AGP slot for a dedicated video card. I would keep what you got now and not put windows 7 on it, not sure how well it would run on that old of a machine.

The maximum amount of RAM Windows XP 32-bit can utilize is 4 gigabytes. Your motherboard will only support 2 gigabytes of RAM. If you really want better performance I would save your money and get a new computer. I wouldn't install Windows 7 on your old computer. Just hold on to Windows 7 for a future system.
But you could also upgrade the RAM in your system for a little bit more processing power. Here is a 1 gigabyte module of RAM that would work in your system for $30: SUPER TALENT 1 gigabyte 184-Pin DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop RAM - $30 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-049-_-Product
