Question OCZ pulls through again <3

I bought 600W OCZ power supply earlier this year. It was defective, so two
months in I had it replaced. The warehouse sent me a 700W as a
replacement. About five months in, this replacement blew up on me. So
earlier this month, I sent it to the warehouse. They were out of stock, so
instead of sending a StealthXStreme 700W, they sent me a ModXStreme
700W. I am one happy camper

If you are getting a PSU, definitely go with a Modular. Being able to lose
the not-needed cables is so ballin'. And the OCZ MXS 700W is whisper
quiet.

Some feedback on the OCZ MXS 700W:

It was sort-of a struggle to set it up. The SATA plugs were upside down,
because my PSU is mounted at the bottom, and I guess these cables were
intended for a PSU that is top-mounted. So I had difficulty getting that
connected.

And there is a cable that I can't remove -- it's an 8 plug (2 pins x 4 pins).
I have no idea what it's for. There was the motherboard power cable, and
CPU power cable -- clearly, all computers will use those, so those cannot
be removed. But I don't know what this 8 plug is meant for -- and I'm
surprised it's not an optional cable. So I had to tie-clip it and leave it lying
around doing nothing. Sort-of disappointed, because it ruins the point of
having my modular PSU lol. Any ideas?

Also, I'm surprised how short the cables are. There's no way I could use
this PSU for a case that has cable management. They would never reach.
Do you have to buy special PSU that has long cables if you want to hide
cables in the back?
