Question Can I boot from hardrive on PCI card?

I want to get a motherboard that has only 1 IDE hook up, but I have two things that need to be hooked up to an IDE connector. I have disk drives and hardrives that require IDE, and I don't want to buy anything else right now.

So, Is it possible to hook the disk drives into the IDE connector on motherboard, then hook up the hardrives through a converter PCI card? Will I be able to boot from a PCI coverter card?

you should be able to. generally, the drivers are only needed for RAID.

One thing that you could do is to buy a external encloser kit for that drive and then you can boot from usb

Wouldn't that eventually wear out the usb slot and burn out? One of the USBs on my computer stopped working, so I'm assuming that is what happened.

You can plug two drives into a single IDE port. The IDE cable generally has Master and Slave inputs.

Yeah, I have two disk drives and two hardrives, and they all use IDE connectors. I'm just trying to save some money for now until I can upgrade later.
