Default Hard Drive not in "MY COMPUTER"

I have installed a seagate 7200.7 40Gb hard drive for a back-up (slave) drive, I have put in it the middle (grey plug) of the 80, 40 pins IDE cable, taken out the jumper so it runs as a slave. It registers with device manager and it is enabled, but it doesn't show up in the MY COMPUTER, so I cant open it and use it in anyway. Please help.

Is the drive new? If so you need to go into "Disk Management" and initialize the disk, partition it, and format it.

Right click My Computer > Manage > Disk Management

Were you successfully able to get the drive working?
