Default Buying new labtop!

Hello I just turned 18 and have 600 bucks saved up. I am starting college in the spring [march] and I need a lab top for college along with my gaming desires. I plan to spend anywhere from 600 to 1000 bucks. I play crisis and world of war craft so i definitely need a good video card. I usually buy my technology from best buy because of the warrants and I'm always skeptical about using new egg because of the crap warranty's [from what i hear]. I was thinking about
Gateway - FX Edition Laptop with Intel® Centrino® 2 Processor Technology

The video card and lab top overall seems insane but i hear alto of people on forums saying Gateway is crap and stuff. Please help!

Also i see that this labtop was made in december of 08.. should i wait a little longer and probably a better labtop for the same price will be out by chrismas?
and if u have time can u compare the labtop of theyre to Gateway® P-7805u FX Edition THANKS!
