how to install GUI

Right now the computer has no GUI.
It has Ubutu.
So, how to install Graphical User Interface?
How to install commands to:
1) install GUI (specific commands)
2) install browser ( " ")
3) install desktop (" ")

The screen presents with three columns of text.
Hope someone can help.

i did this not too long ago, let me see...
do you get a command promt ($)? if so type:

$ sudo aptitude install xorg xfce4 gdm synaptic

this will install xfce4 desktop, you can also use gnome, or kde. gdm is the login manager, but might not be necessary.
synaptic lets you install other programs from withing the desktop with a gui.

after that type:
$ startx

and it will take you to the desktop so you can customize it.
