Default Advice please buying new laptop needs below ! Cheers

Hello all,

I am in the UK and looking to get a new laptop. I really dont need one with high specs cheap is good ! I am fairly computer literate but dont know much about specs and hardware.

I will be using it for the following

- Internet ( wireless )
- Watching movies
- Skype phone calls

I wont be using it for games or design or anything that needs good graphics cards.

I live abroad alot of the time in countires where power supply can be intermittent so a battery of at least 3 hours ( especially for films ) would be nice but not essential.

Also it is sometimes difficult for me to get parts / advice where i live as it is remote so reliablity is good.

Any advice

Many thanks all
CP

For what you want, a netbook might be a good choice... especially if you're going to travel with this thing. A laptop is viable too but you might not need that much power... especially if you already have a desktop, a netbook should do everything you said you want to do. ASUS has a lot of netbooks starting at the $250. They usually have around a 3 hour battery, so that's right in range with what you asked for.
