Default faulty psu or mobo?

Hi
my desktop will not boot properly, idont get the beep and the green and red led,s come on initially then the red one go,es out i can hear and feel some thing working bt get an error saying cable unplugged. the system seemed pefectly ok the previous night.
my system is windows vista home premium
intel quad core 2 processor
asus p5n-e sli.
does this suggest psu or motherboard failure.
cheers Les.
