Default 2 modems on 1 network...any ideas on this one?

On my network I have two units that need to share the same bridged pc connection (xbox 360 and directv on demand box) I picked up a speedstream 2614 4 port switch and print server box for $5 at a yard sale a while back and wanted to try and use that as just a switch, but I cant figure out how to set the thing up. I found a few ideas for what could be its default ip, but the ones suggested are the same as my speedstream dsl modem so basically i need to know how to configure the 2614 as just a switch and seperate from my actual dsl modem...does that kind of make sense?

I cant seem to find much help on the internets so hopefully someone on here can decipher what Im trying to do.

Have you tried resetting the box to it's factory default settings. Typically they have a physical reset button that you can use to reset things. Once you get stuff all reset then you should be able to put in the default ip and junk to configure it. To use it as a switch just turn off DHCP and what not.

I did reset it, the power light and another light are green while the two print lights are red (I assume because no printer is plugged in) but still can't connect to it because it only wants to connect to my dsl modem. Would this have a different default ip? I've been trying 192.168.254.254 (which is same as my modem)

to use hubs/switches you need a router coming off your main modem for them to work. switches can not generate IP address off the modem at all.

Well my setup looks like this: modem>wireless n router>downstairs pc with wireless adapter and bridged ethernet connection>speedstream switch (actually, they call this a router too not a modem)>xbox 360/ directv dvr
