Question Crossfire & SLI

If I crossfire/SLI with two video cards, how good will it actually be? What I mean is, will the fps be better, or do people just use two ore more video cards because they look cool. lol

For instance, if I crossfired two http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150441 will the graphics be any better than just one?
