Trying to figure out what to download as far as software... So far all I have is CCleaner, and Smart Defrag... Dont want to download anything else yet cuz i dont want 2 conflicting AV programs running


its norton internet security 2010.. What should i do?

Itis hard to say if they will conflict with eachother but, 2 av's is not going to do any better than 1. Therefor we at CF do not recommend using more than 1 AV. Also I recommend you to get rid of Norton as soon as possible. Norton is a huge system hog. Use the Norton Removal tool to remove it. Then install Either Avira or AVg as you stated.

so how do i check to make sure Norton is completely gone.. i did the uninstall for the internet security, but in my start menu i still have a norton online backup , under "all programs"

And when i went back into the norton site it still says i have a trial subscription.. is that just there because those are the ones I registered to my email address?

Download hijackthis, run it, and post the lot here

That will tell us if its completely un-installed

ok.. i ran it... it stopped quick right away and said this

For some reason your system denied write access to the host files If any hijacked domaines are in this file Hijackthis may NOT be able to fix this
