I know most of you would advise me against doing this, but I think it will work. First I'm think of upgrading my GPU from a nvidia 9300m 256mbs to a 9800m 512mb. My MoBo model is an Intel PM965. I also have a pci express slot x 16. Maybe later on I'll upgrade my ram(2x1gb ddr2) to 2 x 2gb)
Q1. If i went into my laptop and gave everything a clean and replaced my cpus thermal paste should I wear an anti static wristband? Q2. How will my powersupply do with the new GPU? (Laptop is an Asus F3sg) Q3. Will it work? Thx for the answers

The GPU (9800gt 512mb) is about 120 on ebay and the ram (2x2gb 800mhz corsair) is $120.

Laptops don't have a standard for video slots. They can either be integrated to the board or some kind of daughter board. In other words, it's either completely not upgradable, or the upgrades will have to be for that specific computer. Now, if this card is for that computer, you shouldn't have any problems with the upgrade. But my personal opinon would be that it's a waste to invest money in an older laptop.
Oh, and power supply. That's difficult to say, but I do know some higher-end laptops come with higher wattage PSUs (comparison my Inspiron 1420 with my friends old Vostro 1400 with a dedicated 8600). If you do proceed with the upgrade, it shouldn't be too hard to find a better power supply.

I went into my laptop today and had a look around. Turns out I have one Hard drive with two platters instead of two separate hard drives. I also found one fan with two heat-pipes. One leaded to the CPU (I think) and the other went to the GPU (unsure). I also went to MSY and got an anti static wristband and 2.5grams of Arctic Silver Ceramique. I noticed that the fan on the Mobo wasn't directly cooling anything.
