Default Memory Prices?

So I was reading this post and I saw a guy paying $56 for 2x1GB sticks of Ram and I thought "RIP OFF" so I went to link my 2x2GB sticks I payed $40 for and they are $90 on newegg now.

What did I miss that increased memory prices of DDR2 so much??? It can't be being stopped production could it? Seems a little early to kill off DDR2 since not that many use DDR3 now.

There was an article about it in CPU i believe, the costs of the chips themselves went up due to a contract ending or something. Dont remember the specifics...

I should have held the RAM I sold Russian777 about 3 months ago...good solid G. Skill 4GB set. I gave it away at $35 shipped. It cost half as much to ship it as I sold it for!

I remember just over a year ago picking up some nice mushkin 4-4-4-12 ddr2 800(got nearly 1200mhz out of it too) for under $25 for a 2x1gb kit. Its probably about double that now...
