You can definatately get rid of these items.
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\Windows\UpdReg.EXE I myself would also get rid of this item. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start So rerun hijackthis and place a check next to those items and then click on fix checked at the bottom. Not sure if any of those are causing your problem or not. When did this start happening? Have you installed any new software lately?

Done, Thanks for the info.
It's been happening for a while, I posted a log a while back but was told nothing was wrong. Problem still persisted so thought I should get a second opinion. I don't keep most track of programs I install so not to sure. I guess well find out if this fixes it ![]() Downloaded this drive from dell.com drives for TV tuner and mcafee thinks it's a virus... false alarm?

Thats a valid program as far as I can see. Google the file name mceencoderx86.exe and you can see for yourself.

McAfee gets a lot of false positives. Tried Avast, Avira or AVG? all ar good antiviruses.

Thanks for all the help so far, My computer performance is degrading depending on how long I'm using it for, and is instantly back to normal once I restart it.
Since we've removed all the nasties, can I rule out a virus causing this problem? EDIT: WIndows Installer problem still occurring Last edited by GOA-E; 11-10-2009 at 10:36 AM. |
