Default I need an IDE cable - Is there anything I should look for?

I need to hook up an older drive to my new PC - to move some files to my PC. It's an old IDE drive - and I want to get a new ribbon cable to get the job done.

Is there anything I need to know about this cable - or is there a standard - non-standard size - etc. I've seen prices rannging from 2.99 to 10 bucks on average - via newegg, Frys, Compusa and ebay.

Before I purchase the cheapest one - is there something I should know before deciding on a cable to pick < cable length, plug, configuration, etc >

Thanks

Just get a 80 wire cable. Might have one at a local computer store cheap.

Don't get a 40 conductor IDE...look for 80 conductor IDE/UDMA.

Might I recommend this adapter. It's future proof and a lot easier than opening the case, adding a cable, etc.
